College Essay #2 – Letter to Future Roommate

Prompt: Write a note to your future roommate that reveals something about you that will help your roommate – and us – get to know you better.

By: Anna Moeller

Dear Future Roommate,

Sometimes when people first meet me they think I’m too serious. If what they mean by “serious” is extremely focused on schoolwork and athletics, then they’d be right. I do spend a lot of my time studying because I aspire to become a biomedical engineer and pioneer new medical devices, and that doesn’t just happen overnight (as much as I might wish it did).

But, I also love to have fun… Well, my kind of fun at least. I’ll warn you, if you’re really into partying and going out, it’s going to be near impossible to convince me to come with you. I’d much rather get outside and take a hike with friends, or go to the gym and get my black leggings all chalky white while trying to master a difficult V10A climb. If you do, perhaps, enjoy adventure activities such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, climbing, or surfing, we’re going to get along just fine!

As you might’ve guessed, I’m a fitness junkie. Every morning, I start my day off with a morning mobility routine and a strawberry-pineapple-coconut smoothie. I’m always looking to up my injury prevention game, so don’t be surprised if you find all of the latest foam rollers and compression technology laying around. And if you ever find yourself in need of a strength or mobility program, or require an injury to be assessed, I’m happy to provide you with my non-professional advice!

Looking forward to new adventures together!

Anna
